Welcome Wool Sweaters

with 7 days of rain showers forecasted for the coming week, I'm sure we'll be wearing more than a sweater out...time to start the countdown to Spring!

If Only...

we had more wall space in our kitchen...Rustic Kitchen or Chili Pepper
framed posters could adorn them...

Simple Woman's Daybook

For TODAY: Monday, November 2, 2009
Outside my window...it is 9C and a mix of sun and cloud.
I am thinking...I should be be getting ready to leave the house.
I am thankful for...homemade cocoa, so much better methinks!
From the learning rooms...going over various assignments preparing for the next level of the course I'm currently taking.
From the kitchen...another pot of soup. Always one on the go this time of year! Perhaps the bread machine should be used today as well...
I am wearing...fleece! Feeling a wee bit chilly this morning...
I am remembering...the kids laughter...it's so contagious.
On my mind...things I wish weren't. Time for some more meditation.
I am creating...Christmas cards. Only 52 more days you know.
I am going...to spend the afternoon out with my Swedey.
I am reading...a suspense novel: Karen Harper's The Stone Forest
Noticing that...I need to refocus as I'm worrying too much again.
I am hoping...that the sun wins the sun/cloud battle this afternoon.
I am hearing...my tinnitus, louder today, must be stressed.
Around the house...I see that my crafting has taken over the dining room table even though I have a desk in my craft room...time to gather up the supplies and put them away now that Halloween is gone for another year---but then again, Christmas is coming...
Pondering these words...52 days until Christmas. Sneaking up fast!
One of my favorite things...walks in the wind when there is no rain!
A few plans for the rest of the week: no concrete plans currently.
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...walking a week ago:

Happy Halloween!

When witches go riding, and black cats are seen
the moon laughs and whispers, ‘tis near Halloween

Halloween Fun!

On Hallowe'en the thing you must do
Is pretend that nothing can frighten you
And if somethin' scares you and you want to run
Just let on like it's Hallowe'en fun!
Come with me All Hallow's night
We'll frighten everyone in sight
Such pranks for once, are justified
And fun and frolic amplified.

Love you...Miss you...Rest in Peace

As we look back over time
We find ourselves wondering...
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us...
To celebrate our successes
To understand our problems
And accept our defeats?
Or for teaching us by your example,
The value of hard work, good judgment,
Courage and integrity?
We wonder if we ever thanked you
For the sacrifices you made.
To let us have the very best?
And for the simple things
Like laughter, smiles and times we shared?
If we have forgotten to show our
Gratitude enough for all the things you did,
We're still thanking you now.
And we are hoping you knew all along,
How much you meant to us.
~and although the author is unknown,
the words aren't...here's to you Dad!~

In the Autumn Air

A Little Yummy for the Tummy

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall … or in my Hand

A lot of vintage postcards have images of females gazing into mirrors at midnight on Halloween. This old fortune-telling method was thought to predict the man she would one day marry! Whether it be looking directly into a mirror or walking backwards carrying a mirror, it's one tradition I'm sure most gals are glad doesn't exist any longer as there are definitely more fun things to do during the witching hour on All Hallows Eve!

Full Yet?

Pumpkin Carving?

You Should Carve a Classic Pumpkin Face

You are calm, collected, and together.
You are good at following rules and instructions.

You tend to celebrate Halloween in the same way every year.
You have a routine down that you like.

You look forward to your favorite decorations, candy, and costumes. You might even carve the same pumpkin face each year.

You love the Halloween classics like little kids in costumes,
spooky movies, and candy corn. Why mess with a good thing?

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR Monday, October 19, 2009
Outside My Window...The sun is brightly shining again...I am definitely lovin' this beautiful autumn weather so far!
I am thinking...about getting out in that sunshine for walk.
I am thankful for...our cozy little home...it seems to be extra snuggly this time of year. Must be all the colour we have!
From the kitchen...thinking beef stew but undecided.
I am wearing...jeans and a pumpkin orange tee.
I am hearing...the clock tick...the computer hum...and shortly, the click of the kettle and me sipping a cup of tea!
I am creating...a few Halloween cards and bookmarkers
I am going...to get my homework done for tonight, go for a walk and figure out what we are going to have for dinner.
I am reading...school books at the moment.
I am hoping...that I find a suitable PT job before long.
Pondering these words...Thoughts become things.
Noticing that...people aren't as friendly as they used to be when you're walking down the street, they avoid eye contact and smiles.
Around the house...I need to sort through the closets and drawers and donate clothing items we no longer need or use.
One of my favourite things...lighting some candles and snugglin' up with a warm blanket on the couch in the evenings.
A few plans for the rest of the week: taking the car in for an oil change, cleaning the house, going back to class, enjoying the sunshine and getting more resumes out.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing: the super yummy soup I made that we recently enjoyed:

Autumn at BHP

The Countdown to Winter is on...

October is nature’s funeral month. Nature glories in death more than in life. The month of departure is more beautiful than the month of coming – October more than May. Every green thing loves to die in bright colours.
~Henry Ward Beecher~
"Just before the death of flowers,
And before they are buried in snow,
There comes a festival season
When nature is all aglow."

friends are always giving,
make every day a holiday
and celebrate just living!”

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR Monday, October 05, 2009
Outside My Window...The sun is brightly shining...seems more like summer than fall!
I am thinking...about stuff I want to get done and decisions that need to be made.
I am thankful for...modern day laundry routines--cannot imagine doing all this by hand!
From the kitchen...leftover cottage pie...yummy!
I am wearing...grey capris and a white tee.
I am creating...a new to-do list.
I am going...to finish the laundry, enjoy the sunshine and get to bed early tonight.
I am reading...lots of blogs and Unnatural Exposure by Patricia Cornwell (vintage Scarpetta)
I am hoping...that the next few sessions of my class go as well as the first few!
I am hearing...the timer going off, it's time to get the wash into the dryer.
Pondering these words...
Character is what you are when nobody is looking.
Noticing that...it's getting darker earlier : (
Around the house...we are getting sorted after our recent plumbing-leak mess.
One of my favourite things...this time of year: the leaves changing colour, the start of hockey and the return of our favourite tv programs.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: cleaning the house, going back to class, enjoying the sunshine and preparing for the Thanksgiving long weekend.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing: the leftover cottage pie mentioned above!

What Autumn Smell Are You?

You Are a Pumpkin Pie
Baking in the Oven

You love to feel comforted and relaxed.
For you,
fall means turning inward and
remembering what matters in your life.

Fall rings in the time of traditions, and
you embrace each and every one of them.

Whether you're decorating for Halloween,
cooking for Thanksgiving,
or planning for
Christmas, you really get into the season.

You love sharing this time with your friends
and your family.
You like to make new and
lasting
memories.

Welcome October!

“October is crisp days and cool nights, a time to curl up around the dancing flames and sink into a good book.”
~John Sinor~
