Do you have a light in your window?

A smile is the light in your window that tells others
that there is a caring, sharing person inside.

~Denis Waitley~

Which Way?

“Two roads diverged in a wood and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
and that has made all the difference.”

~Robert Frost~

~We Are Lovin' the Weather~

June 2009 was the sunniest June in Victoria weather history! Gotta love that! With 335 hours of sunshine recorded and a few all-time records set for high temps, summer has definitely arrived in our fair city! Absolutely beautiful summer weather and with the 30-day forecast for July showing above-average temps, it doesn't look like it's going anywhere anytime soon! *Insert Wild Applause Here*

Nanaimo Harbour Walkway

Once again I am behind in posting pics...these were taken last month during our trip up Island to Nanaimo.

Sugarloaf Mountain

Another of our favourite spots is Sugar Loaf Mountain. With it's spectacular 360 degree views of land and sea, it truly is a hidden gem! (and another great spot to picnic!)

Neck Point Park

One of our favourite spots to visit when we go up to Nanaimo is--->Neck Point Park. It is absolutely beautiful...four separate beaches connected by rocky cliffs and lookout areas...you can meander through the woods on the various trails that criss-cross throughout the park to suit the amount of time you have to spend there. A definite must-see if you ask me! Picnic anyone?

Friday Fill In

Won't you play along, too? Go see Janet who creates these fabulous fill ins. Here is mine for Friday, June 12:

1. I grew up thinking life was fair and people were honest.

2. Facebook was the last website I was at before coming here.

3. Why don't you just tell the truth?

4. Meditation or massage helps me relax.

5. Thanks for the hot cup of tea, it was just what I needed.

6. Greed and lying are very off-putting.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to spending time with my Swedey, tomorrow my plans include a trip to the farmer's market and Sunday, I want to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country with a picnic!

Coriander Chicken

Dinner last night was deelish and so easy to prepare! Coriander, also known as Cilantro, is considered a digestive aid and has a citrus flavour, which was enhanced with a squeeze of fresh lemon over the entire meal just before serving. We will definitely see this on our plates again before summer is over...

More Flowers for My Momma

If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly,

our whole life would change

Finnerty Gardens

Finnerty Gardens is a delightful spot to get sidetracked at...with over 4000 trees, plants and shrubs, there is a little something there for everyone! Whether you are meandering along the paths and visiting the different garden sites or resting peacefully on a perfectly placed bench when the mood strikes you, it truly is a hidden gem in our city, that has the added bonus of free admission. With over 1500 rhododendron and azalea plants, it makes for a very colourful visit during April and May when the rhodos are their prettiest! We were a wee bit late in catching them at their best, but will definitely go back again next year to see. My pictures are not doing justice to this beautiful area...
