More Meals and Munchies

Why Your Life Sucks

This was absolutely the most humourous self-help book I have ever read! I didn't go looking for this book, it found me--->the vibrant colours caught my attention as I passed an outdoor table set up outside my favourite bookstore! While the title kind of turned me off, it was when I picked it up and read a few passages that I knew it was another must-read, so I bought it! What a wonderful journey of self-discovery through humour! I would definitely recommend this to everyone, whether they thought their life sucked or not. It was informative and entertaining!

Pumpkin-Cider Stew
and
Winter Squash Bisque
Don't they look delicious? Just click the pic to be taken to the recipes which were found on the Better Homes and Gardens website. I tell ya, Fall's arrival is making my mouth water! I usually just experiment in the kitchen, but this Fall I intend to attempt a few tried and true recipes that I find online, or that you recommend. Nothing more satisfying than savoury soups and stews-->the ultimate comfort foods methinks! So please, send me your Fall favourites: recipes and/or links! I look forward to making a few new favourites this season...

The Mulberry Tree

This heartwarming tale was a pleasure to read even though it's not the type of book that would normally keep my interest...
but it had enough interesting characters and suspense to keep me turning the pages until the end!

Apple Iced Tea

You Are Apple Iced Tea

You are warm hearted and generous. You believe it's important to make others feel comfortable.

You are a bit of a cozy homebody who feels out of place in the warm weather. You'll drink iced tea but you prefer the hot stuff.

You are more serious than most, and you shy away from superficial people. You prefer to look beyond the surface.

You like deep conversations, engrossing novels, and moving films. You find ideas and human interaction fascinating.

A Get Organized Weekend

One of the ways that helps to quiet my mind is to get organized! I have always been really good about staying organized, but this past year I've let things slide and it's time for me to get back on track! To celebrate the Labour Day Long Weekend, I am working on doing just that by decluttering and cleaning! This Mind Map by Paul Foreman provides ideas and inspiration to get going! Be sure to read an article by him that provides simple, but effective solutions on how to declutter our environment and mind by clicking HERE.

Fabulous Flowers for My Momma!

More Fab Fare

Remembering The Crocodile Hunter:

RIP Wildlife Warrior!
Whatever you want to do in this world, it is achievable. The most important thing that I've found, that perhaps you could use, is be passionate and enthusiastic in the direction that you choose in life, and you'll be a winner.

If there's one thing that I, Steve Irwin, would wanna be remembered for, [I want to] be remembered for passion and enthusiasm. Conservation is my job, my life, my whole persona.

Soul Season

Your Soul Is Connected to the Fall

You are a somewhat sensitive soul with a tough exterior. You are street smart and wise about the world.

You have the heart of a poet, but you're not too eager to let anyone else see it.

You are very creative and deeply talented. You are still looking for the perfect outlet for your expression.

You embrace change and think the cycles of life are beautiful. You don't shrink away from the darker elements of life.

A Quiet Mind

A Quiet Mind Cureth All
~Robert Burton~

September's arrival always constitutes a new beginning for me. Remnants of days gone by because it was always the start of the new school year I suppose...

This September I am challenging myself to QUIET MY MIND to gain REAL INNER PEACE. Those of you that know me, know that I am a nonstop thinker, and that I think about everyone and everything---no wonder I'm so tired all the time!!! I have researched this ad nauseum and know what to do...just need to put all my learning into practice now and follow through.

If we have not quiet in our minds,
outward comfort will do no more for us
than a golden slipper on a gouty foot.
