Brick Walls

I Have a THING for BRICK...

and I
photograph it

Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window: the sun is shining!
I am thinking...that I best take advantage of the sun today as it's supposed to rain tomorrow.
From the learning rooms...learning that life is full of surprises.
I am thankful for...the ability to always see both sides.
I am wearing...black cropped yoga pants and tee shirt.
I am remembering...to be in the moment.
I am going...to get out in nature and do some meditating.
I am currently reading...Walden by Henry David Thoreau.
I am hoping...for quiet and clarity.
On my mind...as usual, more than needs to be.
I am creating...a few more greeting cards.
Noticing that...as fast as time passes, it can also stand still.
Pondering these words...Life is simple, its just not easy.
I am hearing...the birds singing outside.
From the kitchen...baked chicken with broccoli and ??? Probably rice, but maybe a pasta or potatoes.
A few plans for the rest of the week...we have plans with family but other than that, I'm not sure at the moment.
Around the house...a spring clean is about to begin this week! Darn that Spring...it's arrival always seems to create more housework! hee hee
One of my favourite things...guided meditation.
A picture I'm sharing...yummy red pepper jelly products

Couldn't sleep...so I read Thoreau and
picked out some favourite quotes to add
to the picture of the book I took...

No Ordinary Moments

Having enjoyed Millman's Way of the Peaceful Warrior earlier this month, I was eager to read No Ordinary Moments, A Peaceful Warrior's Guide to Daily Life. While this latest read is a gem of a self-help book, it did not make my must-have list...

What to Have for Breakfast...

Decisions, Decisions...

Too hard to decide when one is hungry!

Welcome Spring!

Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's party!"

Saying Goodbye to the Winter that Wasn't

Today marks the last official day of winter...
it has been the warmest and driest ever recorded...
and nobody is complaining...
perhaps we'll get lucky again next winter!

Daffodils

“For oft, when on my couch I lie

In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.”

~William Wordsworth~

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire!
These things, I warmly wish for you-
Someone to love, some work to do,
A bit of o' sun, a bit o' cheer.
And a guardian angel always near.

Way of the Peaceful Warrior

Borrowed this book from the library and will be buying a copy for my own book collection soon! I've not yet finished it and already I am suggesting it to others...I will definitely be reading this again!

"There are no ordinary moments."

"Wake up! If you knew for certain you had a terminal illness--if you had little time left to live--you would waste precious little of it! Well, I'm telling you...you do have a terminal illness: It's called birth. You don't have more than a few years left. No one does! So be happy now, without reason--or you will never be at all."

"The journey is what brings us happiness not the destination."

~Dan Millman, Way of the Peaceful Warrior~

Rustic Homemade Pizza

Whole wheat crust is made using dough mixed in our bread machine...it's ready to be rolled out and topped in two hours and in our opinion, worth the wait! It's deelish!

What Kind of 'er are You?

You Are a Talker
(no surprise here either! lol)
You are a naturally outgoing and friendly person. People interest you, and you love making new friends. You are a very open minded and enthusiastic person. You see the best in others, and you're always rooting for them.

You always have something to talk about. You ask a lot of interesting questions, and you know how to tell a good story. You are the least socially awkward person you know, and you can make the best of a weird situation. You have an amazing sense of humor.

What Room Are You Most At Home In

You Are Most at Home in the Kitchen
(surprise surprise)
You're the type of person who finds a lot of comfort in your home. You love to take care of yourself and others. Your home is welcoming and open to all. You love entertaining guests and making them feel a part of the family.

There's nothing like spending an afternoon in the kitchen, whipping up treats for you and your loved ones. You believe that the simple things in life can be the most enjoyable. You like give your time and love to people.

Annual Flower Count

21 BILLION; 691 MILLION; 666 THOUSAND, 716.
It could have been our spring-like winter and/or more community involvement that made this year's flower count a memorable one by shattering the previously held record of 8 1/2 billion of 2002. Whatever the case may be, Victoria is covered in colourful blooms and we're not complaining!

S M I L E Y--T O A S T

a happy way to start your day...

Friday Fill In

1. I am so looking forward to Daylight Saving Time!
2. Why do it now when you can do it later!
3. When you get older, you view things a whole lot differently than you once did.
4. Staying in touch and spending time with family and friends is a big part of my life.
5. If you need
to talk, I'm always here.
6. Never skip an opportunity to take a trip.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
reading, tomorrow my plans include cleaning and Sunday, I want to go sailing!
