An August Sunday Stroll

...these are the times of dreamy quietude,
when beholding the tranquil beauty
and brilliancy of the ocean's skin,
one forgets the tiger heart that pants beneath it;and would not willingly remember, that this velvet paw but conceals a remorseless fang.~Herman Melville~

What Do You Need Most?

You Need Expression

You're the type of person who has a lot to express, and you need many outlets.

You love to create - whether you're writing a novel or just putting together an amazing outfit.

You are a deep thinker. You understand the world well, and you are in touch with your emotions.

And you don't like to keep your insights to yourself. You love sharing what you know with the world, even if it's in a very abstract way.

The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY: Monday, August 10, 2009
Outside my window...it is raining lightly...first rain we've had in a couple of months that I can think of...besides that one unexpected thundershower we had last month.
I am thinking...this rain is definitely going to help the hundreds of forest fires that are currently burning...hope the whole province is getting rain today!
I am thankful for...long chats with good friends in person!
From the kitchen...a big ole pot of spaghetti is being made.
I am wearing...summer tank top and shorts.
I am creating...cupcake cards.
I am going...to enjoy the day at home puttering around.
I am reading...non-stop this summer! Just read three more books this week and am starting Judith Michael's A Tangled Web.
I am hoping...to have my new routine in order for Sept 1.
I am hearing...nothing for a change. Enjoying quiet time!
Around the house...some decluttering has started and I look forward to getting it done. Definitely in the mood right now, so I best take advantage of that feeling!
One of my favorite things today is...curling up on the couch with a blanket, cup of tea (lovingly brought to me by my Swedey) and reading my book while listening to the rain through the open window.
A few plans for the rest of the week: getting caught up in all aspects of daily living!
Here is picture thought I am sharing...cute little house that I saw while out walking...love that little porch area!

Speedy Summer Reads

My lazy days of summer are spent enjoying simple pleasures and reading tops that list! The past few weeks have found me reading lots! I love borrowing old books from friends and family and reading them at my leisure-->while swinging away in a garden swing is probably my most favourite spot to devour these novels, and the recent heatwave had me doing lots of that!

I Want...

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACCOMPLISH THIS MONTH?

While my to-do list and to-see list grow daily, I am challenging myself to focus on two main things this month: Having More Fun and Getting Organized Again!

For FUN: more walks, talks and bike rides, more picnics, more visits with friends and family, and just enjoying simple pleasures that being outside during the summertime bring!

Get ORGANIZED: declutter, donate and get a new routine! Things have been slowly piling up around here again. Need to reduce the items we don't need, use, or love. Also had a 'daily plan' for my everyday living that seems to have gone by the wayside...must get back into a routine of sorts as the days pass by far too quickly without one, and little gets accomplished--->the lists keep growing instead of having things crossed off them!

The annual Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash is a spectacular event that sees Victoria's beautiful Inner Harbour transformed into an outdoor concert stage.

Bayview Residences Victoria Symphony Splash is the largest annual outdoor symphony event in Canada, attracting thousands of Victoria residents and visitors. This year was no exception, with attendance over the 40,000 mark. A fabulous community event that takes place each BC Day long weekend. This year they were celebrating their 20th Anniversary and we hope many more!

Antler Lake Fire

Pic Credits: Gold River Forest Fire group (www.facebook.com)
Visual update on the fire near my hometown that is still burning. One of over 800 wildfires burning in the province. More than 100 new fires are igniting each day in BC according to fire officials. Most are caused by lightning strikes. It is extremely dry and the fires are behaving aggressively. Time for a rain dance or 800!
